What does the world of your story look like?
Often, we’re so excited about an idea, we dive in without knowing much about the world of our story. In this mini-lesson, we’ll play through a mapping activity to help you explore the many possibilities your world has to offer. Exploring the world of your story gives you a better sense of your characters' back stories. Also, your map provides you with interesting options for locations to set scenes. Finally, your map will help you visualize the story in a big-picture way, and that helps you better understand your plot. All in all, a map is a powerful tool for a writer.
